昔、大阪で、豪快にもほどがある道の迷い方をしているイタリア人を京都に連れてったことがある。
（時間はかかるけど安い路線あるのと、当時はニートだったから時間あった）
数ヶ月後にメールが来た。

「日本人の親切さは恐ろしいほどだったな！
君に逢えて、こんな親切で旅仲間としても申し分ない奴は
二人といないと思ったから、旅館で真剣にプロポーズの言葉考えてたんだ。
そしたらどうだ、道に迷って日本人に聞くたびに、片言の英語で全員、全員だぜ！
全員が、正しい場所を教えてくれたんだ。
言葉が通じない人は全員、全員だぜ！全員が、ついて来い、
一緒に行こうって身振り手振りで正しい場所に連れて行ってくれた。
正しい場所にだ。ありえない！！
全員にプロポーズしたら俺は身が持たない！！
だから君もイタリアに来い。来たら俺の家に来い。そして道を聞け。」

日本人が親切だってこと以上に論理のムリヤリさに、そしてそれ以上に
どうやら正しく道を教えてくれるイタリア人は　も　の　す　ご　く　稀有なのだということに
笑いつつガクゼンとした
